White County Turkey Trot

White County Turkey Trot is held in Cleveland, Georgia, on November 14, 2026. The event is a single 5K run/walk starting at 9:00 AM, open to runners who want a timed effort over 3.1 miles and to walkers who prefer to cover the course at their own pace. Held ahead of Thanksgiving, it follows the classic turkey-trot formula: one distance, one start, everyone together.

Since runners and walkers share the start, position yourself by pace. If you are running for time, prepare with six to eight weeks of three runs per week, adding one tempo run and a set of strides; if this is your first 5K, alternate running and walking in training until you can run 30 minutes without stopping. The 9:00 AM start allows a light breakfast around 7:00 AM and a ten-minute warm-up jog, which is worth doing even if your plan is simply to enjoy the morning.
