The Duluth SkyRun

The Duluth SkyRun is held in Duluth, Minnesota, on January 23, 2027, with the SkyRun 5K starting at 10 a.m. A single distance, a mid-morning start and a mid-winter date: this is a compact event rather than a weekend-long race program.

A 10 a.m. start is later than most 5Ks and worth planning around. It gives the day time to warm slightly, and it means you can eat a normal breakfast a few hours out instead of forcing something down in the dark. Preparation for the distance is modest by design, and even four weeks of running three or four times a week will carry you across the line. If you are racing it hard, do your warm-up indoors or in layers you can shed, because standing around in January costs you more than the warm-up gains.
