Sanders' Saunter Charity Race

Sanders' Saunter Charity Race is a trail event in Lawrence, Kansas, on November 7, 2026, organized by the Trail Hawks running club. Three distances are staggered through the morning: the 50K (31 miles) at 7:00 AM, the 25K (15.5 miles) at 8:00 AM and the 10K at 9:00 AM.

Kansas trail running is often underestimated: the terrain around Lawrence is rolling rather than mountainous, but it is rooty and technical enough to keep you honest. The 10K is an easy way to try trail racing for the first time, the 25K suits half-marathon runners looking for a longer off-road challenge, and the 50K is a reasonable first ultra given the late start and moderate elevation. A 12- to 16-week build with a weekly long trail run, plus a few sessions on slick or leaf-covered ground in the fall, will prepare you for whatever the November trails deliver.
