Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon & 10k

Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon & 10k takes place in West Plains, Missouri, on February 13, 2027. Everything starts together at 7:30 AM: the half marathon (13.1 miles), with about 850 feet of climbing, a half marathon relay over the same distance, a 10K (6.2 miles), and a 10K walk.

That much climbing over 13.1 miles is enough to matter without turning the race into a mountain event, so expect to give up a little time against a flat course and to run the rises by effort rather than chasing an even split. A 16-week build with a weekly long run out to eleven or twelve miles, plus some hill work, prepares you well for it. The relay is a good entry point for runners not ready to race the full distance alone, the 10K gives a shorter option off the same start, and the walk covers 6.2 miles at a comfortable pace.
