C&O Canal 100

A hundred miles on canal terrain is a very different proposition from a mountain ultra. There is little climbing to break the rhythm, so the same muscles work the same way hour after hour and pacing discipline decides your day — most finishers walk planned segments from early on rather than waiting until they have to. Build with long back-to-back weekends, test your shoes and nutrition over at least one 50-mile effort, and plan for running through the night with a crew or a drop-bag system you have used before.
