About
Spinal Tap Trail 50 Miler is held in Richfield, Utah, on September 19, 2026. Three trail formats are on the program: a 50-mile, a 60K (37 miles) and a 10K. The website is crimsoncanyons.com, which places the event in the red-rock canyon country of central Utah.
These distances cover most of the trail-running spectrum. The 10K is open to newer runners and to anyone accompanying an ultrarunner for the weekend. The 60K is a good intermediate step for runners who have finished a 50K, and the 50-mile is the goal for those with an ultra or two already behind them. For the long formats, a 16- to 20-week build with weekly long trail runs, some back-to-back weekends and steady hill work is the way to go. Central Utah in September is usually dry and can be warm during the day, so practice drinking on a schedule and carry enough water between aid stations.
