Hyak Halloween

Hyak Halloween is a 25K trail race (15.5 miles) held at Snoqualmie Pass, Washington, on October 24, 2026. The route runs through mountain country in the Cascades, past lakes and through forest, with the Halloween theme the date suggests and a mix of wooded and more open sections.

Mountain trail racing changes the arithmetic: 15.5 miles here takes considerably longer than the same distance on the road, so plan your effort by time on feet rather than pace. Train on ground that resembles it — weekly long runs on trails, practice on both the climbs and the descents, and get comfortable hiking the steeper pitches without feeling you have conceded something. Shoes with a real outsole are not optional on this kind of terrain. If you have run a road half marathon and you are willing to slow down, a 25K on trail is a realistic step up.
