The single race covers 15.4 km with 994 metres of ascent: a climb to one of the most iconic summits in the country, followed by the descent.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>A major fixture in mountain running, the event attracts elite athletes from across Europe and relies on the commitment of local volunteers. The ratio of distance to climb sets the tone: nearly a thousand metres to gain over 15 km, which is closer to a vertical race than a classic trail race. The fast, punishing descent demands as much preparation as the climb.
