Two distances are on offer as part of the Ashdown Forest Winter Challenge, both starting at 10:00: a 10-mile (16.1 km) and a 5-mile (8 km) race in the heart of Ashdown Forest.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>A winter series has its appeal: rounds follow each other a few weeks apart, letting you measure your progress on a comparable course without building up to a single peak. The 5-mile race fits easily into an ordinary training week, treated as a hard session. The 10-mile race suits runners already used to the half marathon or able to sustain more than an hour of continuous effort.
